In the very short time I've known you I've watched you give so much of yourself expecting nothing in return. You never hesitate to help when called upon and you even seem to know what is needed when the troubled person doesn't. From helpless children to depressed and devastated adults you embrace each persons tragedy with the love and goodness that is not often felt in today's world. Having experienced your on call intervention skills myself, I realize the true value of knowing someone like Jan Stumbo. You have a way of bringing the feel of small town love into the big city and that means so very much to me. You are a truly amazing and beautiful soul and I thank God for leading my family to your village. Love you!

Dear Jan Stumbo, I wanted to write you a letter to show my appreciation for the work you did in the Shelter after the storm of Hurricane Katrina. I want you to know that what one person can do can truly change peoples' lives in a meaningful way. Especially yourself as a community volunteerâ? Jan Stumbo â?? you made in difference in my life. You are a great asset to Arlington due to your commitment to give to those in need. Let me tell you about my experience. I was sad , tired, afraid of what the future holds, I needed to contact my friends and family. The shelter had almost 200 individual displaced by the storm and it was undescrible. Jan you made my situation a little bit more at ease. I was so grateful when you took me to your home and let me use your computer so I could search for my family members and friends. I appreciated the clothes you gave me as well as the personal items I needed. As the weeks passed after the storm your interest in me made such a difference by you driving around trying to help me find an apartment to live inâ?¦I hope to continue a friendship and hope you can stop by when you teach Art lessons at the shelter. I am so glad you truly found your calling in this world. Sincerely, Ronnie Gladstone
