Dear Jan Stumbo,
I wanted to write you a letter to show my appreciation for the work you did in the Shelter after the storm of Hurricane Katrina. I want you to know that what one person can do can truly change peoples' lives in a meaningful way. Especially yourself as a community volunteerâ? Jan Stumbo â?? you made in difference in my life. You are a great asset to Arlington due to your commitment to give to those in need.
Let me tell you about my experience. I was sad , tired, afraid of what the future holds, I needed to contact my friends and family. The shelter had almost 200 individual displaced by the storm and it was undescrible. Jan you made my situation a little bit more at ease. I was so grateful when you took me to your home and let me use your computer so I could search for my family members and friends. I appreciated the clothes you gave me as well as the personal items I needed.
As the weeks passed after the storm your interest in me made such a difference by you driving around trying to help me find an apartment to live inâ?¦I hope to continue a friendship and hope you can stop by when you teach Art lessons at the shelter. I am so glad you truly found your calling in this world.
Sincerely,
Ronnie Gladstone
