Dear Jan Stumbo, I wanted to write you a letter to show my appreciation for the work you did in the Shelter after the storm of Hurricane Katrina. I want you to know that what one person can do can truly change peoples' lives in a meaningful way. Especially yourself as a community volunteerâ? Jan Stumbo â?? you made in difference in my life. You are a great asset to Arlington due to your commitment to give to those in need. Let me tell you about my experience. I was sad , tired, afraid of what the future holds, I needed to contact my friends and family. The shelter had almost 200 individual displaced by the storm and it was undescrible. Jan you made my situation a little bit more at ease. I was so grateful when you took me to your home and let me use your computer so I could search for my family members and friends. I appreciated the clothes you gave me as well as the personal items I needed. As the weeks passed after the storm your interest in me made such a difference by you driving around trying to help me find an apartment to live inâ?¦I hope to continue a friendship and hope you can stop by when you teach Art lessons at the shelter. I am so glad you truly found your calling in this world. Sincerely, Ronnie Gladstone

jan, we have known each other since the 6th Grade and your compassion for others has always been one of your best qualities. The work you are doing is something that we all could benefit from. if each of us would take a tenth of the compassion you have and apply it to our personal lives, this world would be a much better place. My contacts in the media world and the entertainment world are still available to you if you ever need them. Take care, keep up the good work and if you need my help in any way, you know how to get ahold of me. God Bless.

Jan, I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for all you do for our kids, the community, and especially those in need in times of despair. It is incredibly heartwarming to watch you get so excited to help people when an opportunity comes up. I'm proud to have someone in my life who is so unselfish and passionate about giving all they've got when situations like Hurricane Katrina, the Weatherford floods, and many others that have come up devastate lives....and you are there for them, especially the kids. If the world was filled with Janbo' would be a perfect universe. And thanks for all you've done for friend.
